Civic Activities/Festivals
Land of Leather Days: The last weekend in February serves as a way of paying tribute to the leather industries that comprise the majority of all manufacturing and employment in town. The festival includes factory tours, dances, arts, crafts, antique outdoor mall, saddle-making demonstrations, a carnival and one of the largest CASI chili cook-offs in Texas.
Tom-Tom Festival: The first weekend in June Yoakum puts on one of the oldest festivals in the region. Originally begun as a celebration of the tomato harvest, the festival features the Miss Yoakum pageant, a PRCA rodeo, Bar-B-Que Cookoff, a carnival and many other exciting activities.
Yoakum’s Bull Bash:: The last weekend in July provides activities centered around bullriding and free-style bullfighting events.
Christmas is saluted in Yoakum, beginning with Santa Claus lighting Pershing Square, simultaneously with Centennial Park. Children and adults alike enjoy the festivities that accompany this joyous time of year.
